brown algae on the sand bed and the rocks

    hi all

    need some help here , i have been getting brown algae on the rocks and sand bed .

    at the moment i only dose zeobak , bio mate and coral snow and ZZ. any advice on what i can do ?

    here is the dosage plan

    Bro what is ur NO3 PO4 level? And how old is ur tank?

    get a algae benny or trochus snail , they help to eat... my benny love brown algae, eat like buffet

    Where to get trochus snail? Seems that the little fellow feeds on cyano too

    I believe your nutrient in more than nutrient out and algae start as excessive nutrient. Possible cut down your dosing maybe the sponge power and coral food.

    My brown algaes on front glass average 3 days then appear alittle. If everyday appear I will do more wc and feed less

    Like that means you need to look for the sources of your nutrients if everyday you get brown algaes.

    Not necessary everyday change water lah. Twice a week and stop all additive except bacteria. Maybe add nutrient export to help like gfo but make it slow not to shock your coral. Maintain dkh, cal n mag, the basis element. upon condition recover, you may start dose at 30% or 50% of the recommended.

    Yup twice a week wc is good enough. But you still need to find the root source if you keep.getting daily brown algaes.

    But zeovit have not encouraged on using gfo and is it true that the new sand will have this problem ?

    Yes zeovit does not encouraged the use of gfo when using full zeovit.
    Caused by new sand is possible, as nutrients in it will slowly leach into the water

    So what can I do at the moment ? I have just added fauna Marin ultra phos 100g into the sump , will this help ?
