Been having this algae problem in my new tank for the last couple of weeks.

Here's a pic of the tank:

A friend recommended using a combination of coral snow at night and zeozym in the morning. After some manual removal of the pesky algae by siphoning them out, heres the pic:

The next day, I cleaned the back glass and the algae came back with a vengeance.

I don't have any reactors of any kind in the sump. Just skimmer and bacteria media.

Did you soak the zeozym for 6-8 hours with zeobak and did you switch off the skimmer after dosing ?

Didn't soak. Just stir in a cup of tank water n pour into affected tank. I never switch off my skimmer under any circumstances except power trip

I added a spoonful of the zeozym to a cup/mug of tank water. And about 10ml of coral snow

I have a similar problem as ming69 and was recommended this method of controlling the brown algae. I just started dosing it for 2 days so I will document the process.

I have a 600L tank and around 150-200L sump. Im dosing 1tsp of zz and 8ml of coral snow daily as recommended on the bottle. Not sure if I should soak the zz powder first as the admin from the zeovit forums recommends you to. I guess I will try that method as well.

Maybe you can refer to this

    ZEOZYM

Take 0,5-1L Aquawater in a cup, take your quantity Zeozym in the cup and mix it, wait 30min and mix again and dose it in the Tank, stop your skimmer for 1 or 2 hours. When you have problems in the Tank then you wait 8 hours after first mix before you use in the tank and you can take a quantity of Zeobak in the mix too, than you have stronger results.

Skimmer should be switched off in both cases, if mixed with Bac or not to keep the “substances” in the water column for a longer time, otherwise it will be skimmed out relative quick.

The mixture should ferment in a lidded container.

If needed both Bac and Snow should be added to the container after the 8-10hrs wait, at about the same time giving the mixture ~ 15 - 30 minutes to soak in.

For coral reefs w/o issues, forego the Bak, & mix ZZ in some tank water, allow to mix for 10 min. to 30 min then dose. Skimmer off is
    recommended.
