This is one interesting topic that i always googled when i just started my zoas garden. You will get all sort of answers on the internet bcos every user has got difference experience on this. No right or wrong answer. For me, i have been using vitamin c and iodine for almost a year and feel that both will not have much impact on the speed of zoas growth. It's more for keeping zoas healthy. Vitamin C for soaking fish food and iodine for dipping newly frag zoas.

Incidentally, vitamin C dosing works as a carbon source for bacteria too. So even if it isn't consumed by fish/ corals, at least it reduces nitrates/ phosphates haha

Corals have learned to use Vitamin C and other organics because these organics are in large supply on reefs. And guess how the organics get there?

Algae! Yes algae makes Vitamin C.
