    Hi hobbyists.
I know we all use a lot of superglue and sometimes epoxy for big pieces of coral. And much have been said about how safe these are.
But why does the skimmer go on overdrive whenever I apply them?
Esp epoxy, which can turn the water alarmingly cloudy.
    Any authoritative views on thus?

like what kinarato said. Its normal.
Some brands of epoxy will make skimmer go very crazy due to a certain compound/chemical.

you can try using aquaforest coral-fix . Aquaforest's brand of epoxy. Friends is using it and their review is it wont make skimmer go crazy.
besides, it is cheapest reef's brand epoxy around! yay lol.

big piece of corals like SPS , not necesaary need to use epoxy. I been using glue without problems. Just have to glue abit of the contact point to the rock and don't touch it. SPS will encrust onto rock after awhile.

Only the small part of base is glued. While 90% of the sps have no contact point.
It takes skills and practice. Best glue for it will be bsi glue.

    1)
spam glue at the contact point.
    2)
put it onto the position that u want.
    3)
leave it up slightly and move abit, and press it down again. Take the whole sps out and spam more glue again if u find it not enough.

    4)
now is finger skills. Use one of your finger, index or middle. To spread the glue even on contact point, evenly to touch the sps and rock. Not only spread the above. But bottom and sides as well. Helps if u have long finger.

    5)
dont let go! Continue Holding your sps. Maybe 2-3 minutes . Dont move.

    6)
slowly slowly let go. Becareful not to hit it.

Hope it helps. But really, its really depend on skills and experience.

Super glue and epoxy are organic, so when they are still soft they contribute carbon to the water.
