Back to reefing after taking a long break!

Was reminiscing the good ol'addictive hobby, after my renovations for my BTO was done.
After much persuasion to the wife, she agreed for a custom tank to fit the kitchen top and chiller strictly to be placed in the service yard, we hate the sound of humming compressors and heat generated in the house.

I got a IM 10G tank at first but the real estate was simply too small to add any goodies or create a nice rockwork. Furthermore i have to constantly deal with water parameters fluctuations and my main objective is to satisfy my itchy hands with SPS.

Got to the drawing board to customize my own tank to fit to the exact measurements of half of my kitchen top. I do not have the luxury of building a cabinet+sump as it will ruin the design of my interior design of my flat, thus going with an IOS/AIO setup.

    Here are the details.

    tank1.jpg

    Tank Details
    Customized from CRA
    Size: 29" x 25" x 18"
    Internal Compartment Space: 5" wide
2 Overflow compartment and 2 Returns
3 baffles in the IOS for water leveling

    Equipments List

    Lights
    -ATI Sunpower Dimmable 8x24w
-China LED Supplement on both sides of ATI fixture

    Temperature Control
    -Hailea 52A 1/6HP

    Water Movement
-Eheim Compact 1000 connected to two rotational flow spiner for output
-Jebao RW-4 (To consider for Ecotech Vortech MP10 or Gyre for future upgrades)

    Dosing/ATO
    -Tunze Osmolator Nano 3152
-(yet to confirm on dosing pump if really needed)

    Waste/Nutrient Export
    -Skimz SH1
-Precision Marine Fluidised Reactor inline with chiller (thought of putting chaeto)
-Biopellet Reactor(yet to confirm on model/brand)

    Welcome back bro!
So far all the equipments u listed are great. I do however suggest you getting a gyre instead for wavemaker as it will be much nicer aesthetically. It also provides wide flow instead of focused 1 point flow like jebao.
Maybe for skimmer u can look into mce600 deltec?

I don't suggest you using biopellet though as u need a powerful skimmer. Try dosing carbon source instead, that way u will have more control than usimg biopellet.

Fluidised reactor can put phosphate remover media and activated carbon can just put it in a mesh bag.

Do also add some siporax (bacteria media ring) to provide better filtration!

Get a dosing pump to supplement sodium bicarbonate for KH and calcium chloride for Calcium.

Will it be a sps dominated tank?

Welcome back to the hobby! Been using the skimz sh1 for last 2 years... and I agree with ydkm... its not very effective. If you're going for sps... just go for the gyre

Congrats , so CRA will custom the tank for you?
You need siporax or marine pure block as IOS chamber has limited space, thus bio media must really has the most surface with smallest amount media that can put inside ur tank.

Hey shifu, will look into the equip list again and adjust to my budget :D
Thanks for the recommendation, have ordered my siporax and hook up my reactor and think about what media to use first, gotta see if i suffer alot of headloss from the t.

    any dosing pumps to recommend?

    Mixed SPS LPS :D :D~~~

Hi nice looking tank n project. I see that you only have baffles for the overflow. Where is the skimmer going to be at? Cause they need constant water level as well

Hi clement. Baffles are in 3 peices. First baffle to direct the overflow to head downwards, 2nd baffle is to maintain water height. 3rd baffle is to prevent big waterfall effect when the water is flowing over the second baffle(recommended by my tank maker).

Currently having my vacation in Taiwan now. Tank coming in 7days.

Is the pump going to be in the same compartment as the skimmer?

Yes it is. Which i will have a big risk of releasing microbubbles back to the display.

Not only that u will face a problem with the skimmer effectiveness. Even with an Ato the water lvl will fluctuate at the return pump compartment.

Current space where my IM10 is sitting waiting to be decommissioned for the new tank to arrive.

    P1010289.jpg

    Good news:
-Tank coming in tomorrow morning as confirmed by CRA.
-Ordered 2* LED Strip Bar for my ATI Powermodule as recommended by shifus to enhance the colors has been shipped out by DHL reaching in 3-5days.

    Bad news:
-DI Unit that i ordered wont reach Singapore until 30/1. So need to let the tank stand bare during CNY.

Have not decided on a few things
    -Barebottom VS Sand
    -Liverock VS Artificial Rocks
-Possible ways of mounting the ATI powermodule (this unit is h-e-a-v-y)

Hey noticed you had the 10G shifted to the side for your new tank. Did you have to drain out all the water & remove the rocks before doing so?

Am moving my 10G soon too, so am hoping to gather some experience in moving the tank without damaging the seals but also least troublesome
