    Hi everyone,

It has been a while since my 2 years plus tank thread was taken down from SRC (Selfish Reef Club) due to the act of some selfish administrator and mods whom could not take the sharing of cheaper alternatives for reefers because of their personal benefits. They shall not be named but shall be reminded from time to time.

So here we are in this New Singapore Reef Forum where reefers reunited with a common interest in mind. To share knowledge, lobang and experiences. Educating the new reefers with the right values of reefing and to save our reef through proper corals culture and propagation.

If there is no reefers, there is no LFS, there is No forum. Every forum will go through the $$$ temptation when sponsors and advertisers starts to fall in. When that time comes, your policies and decision making will be challenged & pressured by the root of all evils ($$$). I sincerely wish this forum will put reefers interests on 1st priority and stand firm with their beliefs and motto "For reefers, By reefers".

Many a times i read forums and i only get to read the beautiful stories or the positive experiences sharing where else the negative part are often kept undisclosed for worry of offending the LFS on product reviews, or being a loser if mistakes are made. I am a strong believer of sharing not only on good experiences but more importantly on the mishaps so that fellow reefers can learn from it and avoid making the same mistakes. However I do urge reefers not to follow blindly or to believe totally on what I documented. Every tank is unique by itself, the bioload, the biofilteration, the living organism are not the same and can react differently even though we may be applying the same reefing technique or system. Understanding the purpose and applying it to your reef & keeping close observation will benefit more than just following blindly.

I have lost quite a lot of photos from the start up of my tank setup, left overs are a few front tank shots from 2012 to current 2015 june.

    So here goes....

While I am typing this, my tank is currently under Autopilot mode from 4th July 2015 onwards, monitoring through my ip cam and occasionally my fren will drop by my place to help me wipe the front glass....this is indeed my biggest challenge since i started picking up this excellent hobby in 2003.

Will update the casualty list when I am back.

Meantime, i will update the monthly FTS here.

Finally, your tank thread is up again! It is really a pity your previous thread was gone just like that. I didn't have the chance to even browse through the immense library of information, experiences and photos you shared there before the unfortunate happened. Your tank thread's removal was the exact reason why I decided to start a Facebook page rather than a tank thread in that other forum until this forum came about.

    Camping here to learn more...

Hi fellow reefers, yes it feels good to be alive again. Thanks for all the kind remarks and compliments.

Before I go into the autopilot mode, which was plan with contingency in place to sustain my reef for a 6 months period. However I recieved news that my assignment may be shorten to 3 months which is a good thing for both me and my reef. After 1 month of burgers, steaks, pizza and spaghetti, I already miss Singapore food and I am sure my reef misses his weekly FM showers too.

I will start with my tank specifications and equipments list first before going through the history of my equipments upgrades and rational behind it.

    Main tank - 52" x 22" x 17" ios

    Refugium/fragtank - 24" x 20" x 18"

Calcium Reactor - Schuran jetstream 1 with 5 litres CO2 cylinder equip with Intense expert solenoid and needlewheel regulator
and a America pinpoint pH controller.

Back up Chiller - 1/3hp Arctica set at 27.5-28 degC.

Main tank return pump - Ehiem 1264 tee-off to back up chiller.

Refugium/frag return pump - Ehiem 1264 tee-off to rowaphos FR.
