Not sure if i have shared this before.
    But,
Beware of your parameters when using salts with high kh.

    Why?

    Because....

Example current tank of 500 nett litres has kh of 134ppm (7.504kh)
Lets say i waterchange 15% with 11 dKH salt.

After waterchanging... Your kh will jump to 8kh!
    How do i derive this??
    (11-7.5)*0.15 = 0.525 + 7.504 = 8 kh

Then you got to lower your dosage of dosing pumps or readjust your calcium reactor. As your dosing pump / calcium reactor primary purpose is to only maintain/hold the kh & cal.
Else keep wc-ing, slowly u will be surprised to see your kh so high.

Now, lets say you use salts with kh of about 8.

The jump will only be 0.07kh!
    Its veryvery minimal.

Note : Nsw kh is about 7.

Hence the reason why probiotic systems like aquaforest, fauna marin, zeovit recommends kh of 6.5-8.
    Why??
Closer to the corals hometown parameters of course.
We want to keep our corals in a parameters closer to the nature yes??

Only use quality salt for sps reef tank with kH less than 8 if you dont want to meddle with dosing rates.

I think the reefer needs to know what system he is running. If he runs probiotic system like zeovit, fm or af he needs to have low kh so he will use salt suitable for low kh. For old school reefers who run old dsb or berlin system will choose to run high kh.

Old school salt normally has high cal and kh.
Cal above 420 to me is high.
